He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6.
Howard is one of three men charged in an Oct. 28 fight in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue.
Nathan Kyle Harber, 20, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault and Dae’toine Amontaey Jamar Shells is facing discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises and carrying concealed weapons charges.
Shells is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16. Harber has a competency hearing also set for Jan. 16.
Dayton police were called to the fight after receiving a report that a person had been shot, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.
When they arrived, they learned a man had been stabbed multiple times and a 14-year-old was punched and knocked unconscious, an affidavit read. Police later confirmed to media that no one was shot.
Officers found casings from at least two guns at the scene.
During the investigation, officers search Shells’ home and found a load .45 caliber Glock, according to court documents.
“Detectives spoke to Mr. Tavionte Howard who confirmed that he had seen Mr. Shells possess and fire a handgun during the altercation,” the affidavit read. “Mr. Howard confirmed that he fired the 9 mm gun, which had been located inside his home.”
The trio was indicted by a grand jury on Nov. 17.
